In 1988, after one year of affiliation to the newly constituted F.I.C.K. (Italian canoe and Kayak Federation ), inside the Canoe Club Rimini, there were four different groups of paddler in four different disciplines: flat water, wildwater, river runners and canoe polo. Giulio Rodorigo and Maurizio Tognacci were the first ones to start wildwater racing.
In 1988 Giulio won the third place at the Italian Master Championship, racing down the Cellina river (northeastern Alps). Year after year, more paddlers joined the inseparable duo Giulio & Maurizio. They were: Severino Bartolucci ,Enzo Perazzini, Eros Rossi, Paride Galanti, Adriano Pari, Moreno Tognacci, Giovanni Sarti, Maurizio Vanetti.
During the 1992 racing season Maurizio, Enzo and Paride won the K1 Team race silver medal at the Italian Master Championships, on the river Mis (Belluno, north Italy). In the same day, Maurizio won second in the individual race in the Master A category. Result achieved also the following year (1993) on the river Nera (central Italy) Another good result obtained during the season 1993, has been winning the third place in the Open team race category, during a National competition on the river Cellina in Friuli (northeastern Alps). The team that had the honor, it was formed by Maurizio, Severino and Eros.
In the years to follow there was a decrease of enthusiasm and lack of participation, given by the ordinary life duties ( business and family commitments), took the wildwater racing team off from the major competitions.
To the thresholds of the year 2000 Maurizio, Eros, Giulio and Severino, went back into racing, bringing the name of "our" Canoe Club Rimini, back into the Italian wildwater Championships. In the year 2001 Eros and Maurizio respectively won fourth and fifth at the Italian K1 Masters over 40 Championship, held on the river Bussento, (Policastro Bussentino, south Italy), while in the 2002 Maurizio won second (the third time in ten years) at the Italian Master over 40 Championship, racing down the Stura river of Demonte (western Italian Alps). With unchanged enthusiasm and so much experience to be transmitted, the "old paddlers" of this beautiful discipline, they would be pleased to pass the paddle to the young athletes that have already shown passion continuing the competition activity. During the 2001 season, our youth have collected a fair good number of medals during the regional tournaments. Alfredo Arcangeli is the regional Champion in the K1 men cadet wildwater sprint category ; Nicolas Massari won second in the K1 men cadet. (Sprint and Classic) ; Stella Tognacci is the regional Champion in the K1 women cadet wildwater sprint and Classic category ; Alice Arcangeli won second in the K1 women cadet (Sprint).
Going ahead with the years, in September of 2003 the greater result again came from the K1 Master category, winning a bronze in the team race, during the Italian national championship, on the river Brenta, in Valstagna (northeastearn Italian Alps). The trio of the CCR: Maurizio Tognacci, Enzo Perazzini and Eros Rossi. In July 2004 in Vipiteno on the Isarco river ( northern Alps), Maurizio Tognacci, at that time the only Canoa Club Rimini competitor, placed respectively third in the K1 sprint and second in the K1 Classic, during the Italian Masters over 45 Championships tournament.
