After a few years, in 1988, the pure and simple passion has become real sporting activity that conducts to the affiliation at  the  Italian Federation Canoe Kayak (FICK) member of the C.O.N.I.( Italian Olimpic Committe).
After gaining competitive experience, in down river (wildwater) and  Olympic flat water kayaking, the Canoe Club Rimini begins to organize, canoe and kayak courses for beginners and advanced paddlers with the aid of their coaches, certified by the Italian Federation.  At the same time several athletes begin racing wildwater and flat water sprint. 
In the Lake Santarini, near Santarcangelo (12 Kms from Rimini), develops the most  part of the  training preparation for the competitions, in particular for Kayak sprint. In addition the lake is used by our  youth to began kayaking in a safe and calm environment.  

The popular activity, that is inspired to a mature spirit of adventure and to a depth respect of the natural environment, develops on the rivers, lakes and complimentary to the city traditions, also on the Adriatic sea.
Just in this enviroment, since 1990, the passion for racing  brought the canoe  Club Rimini to organize, a series of events denominated "Rimini in Voga", ( Rimini in Paddling) by now known and appreciated in Italy for his/  specificity to join competitors and non competitors during the same event giving them the chance to compare the final results.
To the other hand, the  difficulties linked to the River Marecchia water level,  has always hindered the organization of a wildwater competition (River Descent).
 
 In 1993 the Canoe Club Rimini has made a first attempt that, overcoming this difficulty, it has confirmed the  abilities in organizing events.; in 2001, a solid and determined group of paddlers, after having individualized a  navigable stretch of the river Marecchia,  proposed a Wildwater Sprint competition  (500ms. of pure speed in 2 runs).
As today next April 2006 will be held the fourth event.

Also in the sector of the Olympic canoe and kayak sprint on flat water,  the positive collaboration with the ownership of the Santarini Lake  the CMV (Construction company of Verucchio) and with the City  Council of Santarcangelo di Romagna  has encouraged the Regional Committee of the  Italian Federation to entrust the Canoe Club Rimini for the organization of the 5000ms long distance race.
Because in 1961 the hall of fame  Polisportiva Libertas (Multisport Club) organized in the arbor channel in Rimini, a competition in which our today member Gigi Pompili  also competed. The competition of the year 2000 have been defined as second edition.
  
 For two consecutive years: 2002 and 2003, and then in 2005 the Canoe Club Rimini has received prizes and rewards  from  the City Council  Sport Departiment  during the contest "Rimini for the Sport" for the activity, club development  and the race results obtained by our athletes during those years.

A thanks, to the City Council  Sport Department ; particularly to the Town Councilor  Donatella Turci that  always have been present in those  years. .
